Mis primeras impresiones

leaving arriving/ and adventure in transit

My last day in new york was rough. I packed it to the brim, from a too-filling brunch to buying random necessities to hopping around the city to meet friends to say goodbye. My original plan was to get everything i needed done and then head over to the ding dong and dance and say goodbyes there. Fate would not have it so, and instead I started packing around midnight and spent much of the evening wondering if these weird itchy bumps mysteriously manifesting all over my body were hives.

I had decided to take a cab instead of dueling with the train or super shuttle in the pre-dawn hours. It was SO worth it, and I think I'll just add it to transportation costs from now on. My 5 am boarding saw me weeping my final goodbye, and I barely made it through security in a straight line with all the saltwater in my eyes. I knew I was headed for an adventure, but I would miss all those who wouldn't be adventuring with me.

I arrived in Miami 10 hours before my flight for Buenos Aires. Happily, I got to enjoy Jenna Smith's company on her last day in Ft Lauderdale. We went to the beach and Josh's Green Market, where I bought super tasty mini sweet peppers.

I vowed to shop at local green markets this summer in nyc. After checking out her digs, I drove back to the airport.

SIT kids are really easy to spot. We're all 20 year old pack mules carrying massive hiking backpacks and traveling alone. We banded together at the gate, where i realized that most people hadn't started their papers either. We got started on the plane: I paraphrased my guidebook and common knowledge and was done before the first meal was served. I don't know what took me so long to get started!
